Map made with Inkarnate
I love maps. Especially fantasy maps. When I’m at a bookstore, the very first thing I do after picking up a book I’m thinking of buying is flip to the front to look for a map. If there’s no map, that’s a huge red flag. Huge! If the map is underwhelming? Like a couple of blobs indicating continents with a few hastily scribbled names? Pass.
But a beautiful, interesting map? Oh yeah, that’s the good stuff. I want to go to there.
I don’t think this map is beautiful, per se. It’s practical. Workmanlike. Informative, sure. But it’s not the artistic wonder I can envision in my head, the one I can see but have absolutely no capability to produce.
This is literally the first map I ever made with Inkarnate… and I think it’s pretty good for a first effort! Way better than my hand-drawn original, which I’m sure I’ll upload someday. But still, it’s not very beautiful.
But I hope you find at least find it interesting. Whether you want to relax in the breathtaking Littoral Pools in the Avandese capital of Aquiant, set sail for Fabled Yahatra, strike out to the Far Territory to make your fortune, or get lost amongst the unparalleled libraries of Derbant, I hope you enjoy your time spent in my world.
P.S. Do you know how to make works of art in Inkarnate? If so, hit me up at the email in the lower-right.
